Thank you for visiting paradoxscience.org (the "Site"), operated by Paradox Science Institute (“we”, “us”).  This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose your Personal Information.  

By using our Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy.  If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use, please do not use our Site.

“Personal Information” is information that uniquely identifies you or can identify you by combining it with other data.  It includes your name in combination with other identifying data, such as email or postal address, phone number or other personal information associated with you.   The legal name and definition of Personal Information differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Information You Provide

We may collect contact information through the Site, such as your name, telephone number and email address. In addition, we receive content that you submit to us, such as email communications, requests for information, comments, suggestions, and other information that you share with us. 

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our Site, certain browsing information may be  collected, such as IP address, device ID, browser setting, operating system, referring domain, language preferences, mobile carrier, website activity and cookies.  

A "cookie" is a small file stored on your computer by a website which gives you a numeric user ID and stores certain information about your activity on the website. Some cookies only last for the session spent on the Site.  Other cookies persist beyond that session, for example, you might not have to reenter your information.  We use cookies to gather navigation information, enhance, and personalize your experience, analyze usage patterns, and improve our Site and its offerings.

Our cookies generally fall into one of four categories: Essential, Functional, Analytics and Target.  We won’t use any cookies now, but possibly in the future to see how the website is used. We will not allow third parties to use cookies on our site.

Performance Cookies help us enhance the performance and functionality of our Site and offerings on the Site but are not necessary for your use.  Nevertheless, certain functions or features may become unavailable if you refuse them. 

Analytics Cookies collect information that is used to help us understand the use of our Site and helps us customize our Site to enhance your experience.

Target Cookies record your visit to our Site, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed, so we can recognize you as a prior visitor and track your activity on our Site and others you visit.  These Cookies remain on your device for us to use during a next visit to our Site.  In contrast to these “persistent” cookies, some cookies (“session cookies”) are deleted when your browsing session has ended.

Given the present lack of consensus of what constitutes an informed election, appropriate trigger, or breadth of scope of such choice, our Site will not operate any differently when a “do not track” signal is received.

How We Use Your Information

We may gather information from you to communicate with you and inform you of research studies, conferences, meetings, events, initiatives, and service offerings we believe you might find of interest. 

We use the information automatically collected about you during your use of the Site to improve the effectiveness of our Site, operations, mobile experience and marketing efforts, to prevent fraud and theft, and otherwise to protect Site visitors and our organization.  We will not keep your Personal Information for any longer than necessary for the purposes we collected it. 

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, trade or otherwise transfer your Personal Information to any unaffiliated third parties. Some of our team members may view your Personal Information to perform their jobs and service your needs. We authorize their access to your Personal Information on a need-to-know basis for various reasons described in this Privacy Policy, such as to provide you with access to the Site and to the information and offerings on the Site.

We may share or release your Personal Information to others (including without limitation, courts, administrative bodies, regulatory authorities, and law enforcement) if we believe such release is reasonably necessary:  (i) to comply with a government or law enforcement request, proceeding, investigation or judicial process; (ii) to operate, maintain and protect the Site; (iii) to process or manage inquiries and communications; (iv) to protect the rights or property of the Company; (vi) to enforce our Terms of Use or this Privacy Policy; and (vi) to comply with laws and regulations.

In addition, we may share aggregate, non-individual information, incapable of identifying a particular person, with third parties for lawful purposes.

Third Party Links and Websites

Our Site may contain links to third party websites.  If you click on those links, they will take you from our Site to other websites we do not control.  We are not responsible for the content, operation or security of these websites or the privacy practices of the third parties that own or operate them.  You should read their privacy policies and terms of use.  Any access or use of third-party websites is at your own risk.

How We Protect Your Personal Information

We have taken certain measures to protect the integrity of the Site, which may include your Personal Information, from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction, but no security measures are completely secure. We do not and cannot guarantee the security of your information. If you have reason to believe that your Personal Information has been compromised, please contact us immediately at info@paradoxscience.org.

Children

We do not intentionally collect the Personal Information of children under the age of 13.  If you learn that a child under the age of 13 has accessed the Site and provided us with Personal Information without your consent, please e-mail us immediately at info@paradoxscience.org.

Privacy Rights of California Residents

If you are a California resident, you may have certain rights with respect to your Personal Information, including the following rights:

  • the right to know, by way of our Privacy Policy and any specific inquiries you direct to us, where Personal Information we have about you comes from, what we use that information for, whether it is being disclosed or sold, and to whom it is being disclosed or sold;

  • the right to “opt-out” of the sale of your Personal Information to any third parties;

  • the right to request us to stop sharing your Personal Information with third parties;

  • the right, with some exceptions, to have your Personal Information deleted from our possession or control;

  • the right to correct inaccuracies in your Personal Information; and

  • the right to receive equal service and pricing, even if you exercise any of these rights

For all California residents, any such inquiries shall be responded to within forty-five (45) days and at no cost to you.  We must verify your identity with respect to such inquiries.  Depending on the nature of the Personal Information at issue, we may require additional measures or information from you as part of that verification.

For California residents under age 18 who have publicly posted content or information, you may request and obtain removal of such content or information pursuant to California Business and Professions Code Section 22581, provided you are a registered user of any Site where this Policy is posted. To make such a request, please send an email with a detailed description of the specific content or information to info@paradoxscience.org.  

Please be aware that such a request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of the content or information you have posted and that the law may not require or allow removal in all instances, even if requested.

Other State Privacy Rights 

A number of other US states, including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indian, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia, may provide their residents with certain privacy rights. 

Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Virginia (and other states) may have the right to request:

  • Whether we are processing your personal information, access to that information and to receive a copy of your personal information.

  • Correction of your personal information that is inaccurate.

  • Deletion of your personal information.

  • Opt out of the processing of your personal information for the purposes of providing you with targeted advertising.

Oregon residents may request a list of the third parties with whom we share Personal Information.

Other than as set forth in this Notice, we do not collect or process Personal Information that may be considered "sensitive" and subject to the laws in Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah or Virginia. We do not use Personal Information for profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects for a consumer.

Under the Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A, we do not currently engage in the “sale” of Personal Information.
