School of Quantum Biology

The School of Quantum Biology (SQBio) seeks to attract and support a new generation of scientists dedicated to advancing breakthrough research in quantum biology and developing transformative technologies rooted in its principles. The first edition of the school was hosted in Paraty, Brazil, from August 11th to the15th. The program featured participation from leading international scientists in the field. A select group of outstanding young researchers was chosen from a pool of over 120 applicants. The School’s organizing committee has already fostered the growth of the Brazilian quantum biology community through a series of successful initiatives. This new phase marked a step toward internationalization and greater scientific exchange.

SQBio was organized by IDOR Pioneer Science and supported by Paradox Science Institute, FQxI and the Quantum Biology Foundation, and aimed to strengthen the presence of researchers in quantum biology and encourage a spirit of ambitious exploration in addressing the field’s fundamental questions.

Quantum biology is an interdisciplinary domain at the intersection of physics, biology, and the life sciences. It explores how quantum mechanical principles and phenomena influence biological systems across multiple scales—from molecules and cells to whole organisms and ecosystems. By investigating the role of quantum effects in biological processes, the field aspires to uncover novel mechanisms that shape life at its most fundamental level.

As quantum biology rapidly evolves, many institutions are investing in its potential to drive future technologies and innovations. Paradox Science Institute is proud to support the School of Quantum Biology in advancing this dynamic and promising field.
